Consider these numbers:

128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1

Use these numbers to make target sums following these simple rules:

1) Use only the numbers in this set.

2) Only add.

3) Use a number once and only once when making a target sum.

For example:

The target 10 can be made with this sum: 8 + 2

Here are some questions:

1) What is the largest sum that could be made with the numbers in this set?

2) Is there any target between 1 and the largest possible sum that cannot be made?

3) Are there multiple combinations that can give a target?  Prove your answer.
