Introduction

Summer professional development frequently includes very pragmatic tasks; time and syllabus are focused on helping teachers plan units, sometimes even to the level of daily lesson plans, to be implemented in the following school year.  Although I understand the attraction of "getting something useful done" during these summer sessions, I believe such detailed plans can actually inhibit successful work with students.

This set of pages suggests an approach to summer professional development that is designed to promote more successful and meaningful implementation of plans.
