Create a Set of Guiding Principles To achieve the goals promoted in any professional development initiative, one must act in certain ways and attend to certain details of planning and practice. The rules-of-thumb one follows to remain on a course to make progress towards the target practice can be called one's Guiding Principles. Many find Guiding Principles are too vague, but it is important to understand Guiding Principles help you make decisions about how to plan and implement practice. As part of your summer professional development experience, create a set of three to five Principles that will guide your decision making during the school year.
