Introduction
Chess is an ancient game of tactics and strategy that pits two armies against one another in a test of pure skill; there is no luck involved. The object is to capture the opposing side’s king by eliminating his more powerful pieces with less powerful pieces of your own in a carefully orchestrated sequence of attacks and defenses, such that you gain the overall strategic advantage. Once your army can overpower your opponent’s such that he can no longer defend his king, you can capture his king and win the game in a very satisfying move called “Checkmate”.
