Anticipated syllabus for Creating a Dynamic Web Presence in Education, a 3-credit graduate course in education proposed by Gary L. Ackerman for the summer of 2007

Description:The Internet is a permanent resource in the modern world. Participants in this course will gain experiencing using the tools, completing the tasks, and understanding the issues necessary to crete and sustain a dynamic web presence.

Primary course project:Participants will develop a strategic plan for developing a web presence for a classroom, team, department, or school. The plan will address decisions related to hosting options, software to be used, content goals, appropriate content guidelines, and identify those responsible for updating various pages.

Supporting course projects:Participants will be expected to demonstrate the ability to independently use the hosting options and software tools necessary to implement his or her strategic plan.

Reflection:Participants will write a 3-5 page reflective paper that focuses on the two or three critical issues each believes affects the quality of a school web site.
