| In the summer of 2004, the Vermont Middle Grades Collaborative decided to offer its Middle Grades Institute at Johnson State College, breaking the tradition of offering such professional development in southern Vermont during even numbered summers. In response, I joined a group of individuals interested in middle level teacher education to offer an institute for middle school teachers in this region.
